US Obesity via Twitter

What does the caloric value of our posts tell about the obesity epidemic in US?

We collected tweets of 210,000 users in United States in order to study their dietary behavior. For each tweet, we find the foods mentioned in it, and estimate its caloric value.

We find that the correlation of this caloric value with statistics on state-wide obesity is high: 0.772.
